Josh Makower, M.D., M.B.A.

Dr. Makower has dedicated his life to the creation of medical technologies which improve the quality of life for patients.  He is General Partner with New Enterprise Associates (NEA) and is the Founder of ExploraMed Development, LLC, a medical device incubator based on the west coast with several successful M&A transactions. Dr. Makower serves as a Consulting Professor of Medicine at Stanford University Medical School and co-founded Stanford’s Biodesign Innovation Program.  Dr. Makower holds an M.B.A. Columbia University, an M.D. from the NYU School of Medicine, and an S.B. in Mechanical Engineering from MIT.

André Cheng, M.D., Ph.D.

Dr. André Cheng brings over 25 years of healthcare experience as a physician, industry executive, and investor. He is Partner and Portfolio Manager at Granite Point Capital, where he leads the Panacea global healthcare fund. Dr. Cheng was previously the Worldwide VP of Health Economics & Reimbursement for J&J Ethicon subsequent to its acquisition of his prior startup company Acclarent. He was on the management team at The Advisory Board Company during its transition from a private to public company and has led multiple business units focused on medical technology assessment. Dr. Cheng holds an M.D. from Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, a Ph.D. from Johns Hopkins School of Public Health, and an A.B. in Biochemical Sciences from Harvard College.

 Rita Lane, M.S., M.B.A.

Rita brings over 30 years experience, including executive positions in three Fortune 100 companies. Most recently, she was at Apple as the Vice President of Operations for iPad, Mac desktop, and Mac accessories where she was responsible for execution of new product introduction, cost, supply and quality.  She architected and delivered the first ever iPad supply chain while simultaneously delivering numerous new products in Mac and Apple TV. Rita also has experience at Motorola and IBM, and has direct experience working in all regions of the globe.  Rita holds a M.B.A. from the University of California, Berkeley, a M.S. in Electrical Engineering from Purdue University, and a B.S. in Electrical Engineering as a distinguished graduate from the U.S. Air Force Academy.

Woody Scal, M.B.A.

Woody’s career spans over two decades leading high-growth, consumer-oriented businesses, with a focus on early stage health & fitness companies. Most recently, Woody was Fitbit’s Chief Business Officer from 2010 until early 2017, during which Fitbit grew from $5 million to over $2 billion in sales, created the health & fitness wearables category, sold 63 million devices, and expanded into 64 countries. He’s also chaired the CTA’s Health & Fitness Technologies Board for 3 years, served as EVP at CamelBak Hydration Systems, and worked at other consumer product companies such as General Mills, Visa International and GoPro. Woody hold an M.B.A. from Stanford and a B.A. from Williams College.
